MODRIC RUES POOR START
Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric has said that his side lost in the match against Stoke City mainly because of the poor start they made to the match.
Tottenham have been one of the most impressive teams in recent weeks, as they have become a real force in the Premier League table. Not only are they capable of challenging for the Champions League position as of now, but they are also in a good position to challenge for the title as well. Even after the defeat against Stoke city, Tottenham can offer threat to Manchester City and Manchester United in terms of the title race. This is because of the two games they have in hand over their rivals.
However, Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric believes that the club could have seized the opportunity with both hands by winning the match against Stoke city. Instead, Tottenham lost the match 2-1, which also brought an end to the impressive run of victories they have been achieving in the last few months.
Tottenham fail to compete with Stoke city in the initial stages of the match at the Britannia Stadium, and consequently, fell two goals down when the teams went into the half-time break. However, they provided a spirited response in the second half, as the introduction of Jermain Defoe sparked a response from the Tottenham players.
Still they were not able to win the match. "We lost in the first half. We started sloppy, every corner kick and every throw-in was a problem for us. We couldn't deal with them and they scored two goals. Every run comes to an end but we didn't deserve to lose," Modric told the club's official website. Tottenham were felt hard done by the referee, who did not award stonewall penalty for Harry Redknapp's men.
